Uechi Ryu was first introduced to Australian in the late 60's by Sensei Ahti Kaend from the USA. The first Uechi Ryu Dojo was then headed by Mr Graham Morris who was the first Shodan in Australia. Soon Australia had 2 new dojos. One in Guilford by Sensei Bob Donnelly and one in Bankstown by Sensei Arthur Moulas. In the 70's Bob Donnelly visited Okinawa and was promoted to 2Dan and lead representatives for Australia.
Due to work commitments, Graham Morris soon resigned and moved to Western Australia. In 1984 Bob Donnelly resigned handing the leadership to Arthur Moulas.
Uechi Ryu is famous for its circular movements, conditioning and practical self defense techniques. It was introduced to Okinawa by Kanbun Uechi in 1910, then known as Pangainoon and later named Uechi Ryu by his students.
